India Travels 1997-present

The images here are from two journeys I made around India. The first was a complete tour of the country, starting in Delhi and travelling through the Gangetic Plain to Calcutta (the North), on to the southern tip of the subcontinent and up again to Bombay (the South), then back to Delhi via a zig to the centre and a zag to Rajasthan in the west (the West). The second journey was part of a 6 month tour of Asia, from Istanbul to Rangoon, that threaded through India on the way to Burma. Images from this trip are included with those in the North India section.

Tales and encounters from this first journey are included in the travels in India section. Here you can also find maps detailing my route around the country.

Delhi Deadlines by Sheldon Smith

A washed out journalist, posted to India to cover a bloody election campaign, uncovers truths about his son's life - and death - in the country, truths that test loyalties forged in the war zones of Bosnia and Rwanda. A fiercely evocative narrative of modern-day India, filled with the clamour and hot stinks of its capital, this is a novel of death woven through with life.

"The writing is very very good... the mysteriousness of Wyndham's death and the narrator's involvement will entice the reader to keep reading." - 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award (ABNA) Expert Reviewer
